Dear Friends,
As I think of you and what you mean to Loice and I, I’m reminded again of Paul’s desire for those he loved: “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well” (3 John 1:2). No matter what is happening in the world around us, God keep our souls going on well. That’s our testimony of how God continues to lead and guide us. While we are experiencing some relief from the threats of Covid, we still have many friends, especially in India and Nepal who are crying out to God for their sick loved ones.
It has been a few months since we communicated. Loice is still blessing many Swahilii speakers in our community not only with her language ability but her heart of love and compassion for them. She still works primarily from home, but resolves parenting challenges, rebellious children, communication with teachers, landlords and many others. She recently graduated from a local leadership program and used her influence to bless the instructors.
I continue to love working a few feet away from her as I do my work with Center for Serving Leadership. We are very busy seeking to accomplish our vision to see a flourishing world in which serving is the trademark of leadership. (See our vision here.) I continue to do a lot of organizational leadership, but have also started doing more training for those we serve. I have been co-leading a local group of pastors who are going through our training and with another international group that is working through our online course. Outside of work, I enjoy some construction work to add a deck to our home.
We love being close enough to Joshua and Rachel to be able to see them and Rory every couple of weeks. She turns 1 in a few days and is beginning to walk. We’re also glad for any opportunity to see Joseph & Joylie and Elizabeth. Loice and I are eagerly preparing for a short trip to Kenya to visit and bless her parents. The African dowry tradition keeps families well connected and this will be a significant trip and opportunity for me to say “Thank You” to them for the 34 years I have been blessed to have their daughter at my side. My brother and his wife and one of my sisters will join us for this trip and we are so grateful for their willingness to be a part of this occasion.
Our small church group is able to meet together again in person and we have been meeting outside in a nearby park. Pray that God will bring people to us from that community who are hungry for Jesus!
We are blessed with your friendship, love and prayers. Please let us know if there are ways we can pray for you. |
